Q 1
What if I’m already pregnant and I want you to check if my baby is in the correct position for delivery? I am 6 weeks away from my due date.
Answer
As the baby grows closer to full term they start to take up more room in the uterus. So at 6 weeks, if the placenta is low it can be encouraged upward to avoid it becoming intrusive when bub decides to venture out.
Its also a good time to turn the baby into the ideal position for delivery.
This can be done by pressing on certain points on the mothers feet to cause the baby to move around into a different position. On the next doctors visit it can be verified if the baby has successfully stayed in place, or we may need to have another press on the point around the 4 weeks before ETA!
Q 2
How can I have my partner help during labour? Can you teach him where to press on my feet to assist in speeding up the delivery? Can pain be eased during labour??
Answer
You can have your partner, friend or relative attend a Reflexmumology session to discover the points on the feet that will give relief, assist in dilatation of the cervix, slow adrenaline for calm and comfort between contractions, be a strong supporter during the labour process.
Q 3
I have been told that it takes a while for my uterus to come back to its former size. Can Reflexology help me return to shape more quickly?
It is advisable to have a check up between 4-6 weeks after the birth as Reflexology can assist in sending the message up through meridian points to the cervix to encourage it to lift, for stitches to heal, for any breast lumps (mastitis) to be detected, and most importantly to guide the bones back into the correct position.
Progesterone levels will be returning to normal which had enabled the bones to become softer to let baby through. Reflexology along with massage can loosen tight muscles, move ligaments to realign hips, allowing the pelvis to find its equilibrium again.
Answer
I have been trying to fall pregnant and it has been over 12 months since we began trying. We both are feeling downhearted as we have been told there is nothing physically wrong. Can you help us?
Q 4
The saying on the Home page is correct…Your Feet Don’t Lie!!
I would examine you both and look for any blockage in any organs.
Often pressing on a point deeply and rapidly will send a message of energy up through the feet to specific organs, blasting open any blockages and returning the area to normal. A couple of visits may be required.
Reflexology can detect if the system has returned to optimal function by reviewing the pressure points applicable to that organ on the feet. Allowing approximately 2 weeks for the changes to occur, make a scheduled appointment to assess the flow of Energy into the area.
Stomach massage will also help as it is a topical way of moving organs to free up any blockages or move any kinks.
Answer
I have my first child at home and when she cries, I’m concerned there is something deeper I am missing. Is there a way to calm my baby using Reflexology? What if I am missing her signals and she is truly distressed? I feel helpless!
Q 5
Reflexology is somewhat diagnostic but it can Never take the place of a medical practitioner.
I can teach you where to press to calm your baby. I can show you how to massage her bowel if she has wind, or bring her wind up if she has reflux.
Her adrenal glands are like ours and if she gets overtired or overstressed, Fight & Flight will kick in and she can become inconsolable.
Once the adrenal gland is accessed in her tiny foot both sides (not necessarily simultaneously as she may be kicking out, one foot at a time is ok), she will come back into a calm state and eventually drift off to sleep.
A decent amount of time needs to be allowed for the 2 feet to be touched and held…so a distraction method to draw their attention away from you trying to wrangle their foot, may be a Plus! Rattle, mobile, singing.
If the baby continues to cry uncontrollable there may be another issue.
Having some simple Reflexology tools at home can be of great comfort to a new Mum!
Answer
I have been worried that I might be like my mother and get gestational diabetes during my pregnancy like she did. Can Reflexology tell if I am susceptible? What can I do to prevent this from happening to me and my baby?
Reflexology can detect when the pancreas is overworking to reduce sugars in the digestive system. Sometimes our body then produces extra insulin which can be dangerous for both mother and baby.
A reflexologist becomes adept at reading signs in the feet. An imbalance or over working pancreas feels like grains of rice that pop like bubble wrap.
This can be kept under control if the client heeds the advice to take in less sugary foods and increase her water intake to dilute the build up of sugars in her bloodstream.
Sometimes the pancreas just shuts down and stops working temporarily. Some problems can occur and the baby may need to be delivered early.
